Frankie's Applet Forum

Java Applets for Students
Frankie's Applet Forum is a collection of Java Applets. The applets are class assignments originally written for university computer science courses in the Java programming language. They display Java features such as: programming basics, object-orientation, user-defined classes and interfaces, color and graphics, GUI components, animation, multi-threading, event handling.

The applets are the efforts of a student and are not thoroughly tested. They are simply "studies" and require user patience and cooperation; user input must be correct. For optimum results, run the applets with a max window. A few professional applets are included for fun and interest.

The applets displayed in Frankie's Applet Forum were written in conjunction with JAVA courses offered at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA and CCAC (Community College of Allegheny County), Boyce Campus, Monroeville, PA.

The web site, Frankie's Applet Forum, was refined with advice acquired in four non-credit, on-line, "Education to Go" courses, "Creating Web Pages", "Creating Web Graphics", "JavaScript Programmimg for the Web", and "CGI Programming for the Web" offered through CCAC.

Web Sites plagiarized:
  • The Applet Depot (Eric Harshbarger) contains a collection of over 40 applets available for download, each with extensive documentation. Source code is not available, and the applets require several parameters which can be tricky, if not difficult.
  • J*va on the Brain Professional site by Karl Hornell. Applets for sale; some free; other interesting topics.
  • Homegrown JAVA (Dr. Mohan Leslie Noone) offers the source code for several applets.**
  • Pikeus Free applets, articles, personal opinions on Java.**
  • eigelb.at Applets for free and sale by Paul Schmidinger.
  • ArtByCheryl.com (source for clown image) offers a wide variety of original web art.
